Couthtopia: This Is Us Series
I have been waiting for a series like this since Parenthood went off the air. The characters in "This Is Us" are flawed and completely lovable. The premise of this family is unlike many others that you have seen however very moment they peel back another layer, you love them even more. I can't say enough about the powerful cast. You have Mandy Moore from A Walk to Remember, Sterling Brown from Smallville, Milo Ventimiglia from Heros, Justin Hartley, Chrissy Metz, Ron Cephus Jones from the Wire, Chis Sullivan and Susan Kelechi Watson and how the each instantly make you fall in love with them. Enjoy!
Winter Plaid Play
This cold, winter breeze is having us all pullout the scarves. In our building we are all dressing in layers. The heater inside keeps it hot however when it is not blowing then it gets cold in our. That is why Gabby is styling short sleeves and a scarves. When you add the layers, you should not leave behind the style. This season layer on the plaid! I am looking forward to some plaid play. What are you looking forward to layering this season?
Boxwood Winery Blast
What a wonderful time! To be honest, when the girls get together we have such a good time! The Boxwood Winery in Middleburg, Virginia, was no different, the last time we hung out there, the weather was beautiful. I can't wait until it gets warmer so we can hit a few more wineries together! Don't worry Boxwood, we will see you again.
Cool Weather Whiplash!
Some days it feels like fall and other days there is a bit of a chill in the fall morning air. On those days I grab a scarf for the am and try not to get the crazy weather whiplash. What stylish tips are you using to keep from getting #weatherwhiplash?

Netflix Couchtopia: Me and Earl and the Dying Girl
I loved Me and Earl and the Dying Girl original take on the awkward high school experience. Its humorous, imperfect perspective was refreshing. It was like watching Dope, Cant By Me Love and Juno. The movie has this great early 90's vibe to it. It is about a boy named Greg (Thomas Mann), trying to be liked and invisible to everyone. Greg is forced by his mother (Connie Britton) to have a deeper relationship with a dying associate, Rachel (Olivia Cooke) from school. The journey of the their high school years are captured in this artsy way without being cheesy at all. I usually don't enjoy movies where the characters look too real and don't brush their hair but that is the genius of this film. The characters are imperfect, enjoyable and full of authenticity. The cast is unbelievable. Some of the best up and coming stars out there. Greg (Thomas Mann) is strange and endearing, Rachel (Olivia Cooke) is couragous and soft, Mr. McCarthy (Jon Bernthal) is hot and Earl (RJ Cyler) is hilarious.- By Shawna Walker

The lighting and crispness of the scenes kept this movie bright, upbeat as possible and enjoyable to watch. Earl (RJ Cyler) is Greg's best friend a.k.a. coworker and my favorite character in the film. He is always saying or making faces that are exactly what everyone is thinking. The urban but country tone of his voice is makes everything even funnier. He is a little like a young african American yoda. Sheer genius! The films take on life and the beautiful, sometimes hard layers of personable relationships are somehow soothing. The camera angles and visual artistry in this movie, although subtle were surprising and elevated the experience to something special and not to be missed. This is not a love story but while I was watching it I couldn't help think of the great 80's love stories like Say Anything, Cant By Me Love and Mannequin. There were some touching connective moments in this movies like "you make me feel blessed", "even after someone dies, you can still keep those things about them.. their life can keep unfolding itself to you, just as long as you keep paying attention to it", and some hilarious moments like "i like air-condition, "dudes got issues, "thats a role model for aint got no friends", the strange stuff written on Greg's lunch bag. All funny. The more you watch this movie the more great moments you will catch. It is not necessarily a feel good movie but not one you'll want to miss.

Amazon Couchtopia: Goliath Series
(pics from google images)
The title Goliath sums up the overall feeling that you have after watching this surprising new original amazon series. This show is a big game changer in the sea of mediocre available mini series that are popping up everywhere. Goliath is the one you don't want to miss. It is a mashup of the best parts of Luther and Suits, rolled up into one sexy, disturbing series with whit and changes that will surprise you. The characters have depth, the story line is basic and yet still unpredictable. The relatable depiction of these cliché stereotypical characters only speak volumes about this momentous cast. The series starts with a washed up but not finished alcoholic attorney, played by Billy Bob Thorton, who along with his smoking hot hooker/paralegal, played by Tania Raymonde, was conned by a loud mouthed, under qualified lawyer Nina Arianda, into taking on this Goliath case against a defense contractor and his arch rival and preditory ex-partner played by William Hurt. The interplay at this mega firm is psychotic and brilliant. The lesbian lead pitbull played by Molly Parker, mysteries ex-wife and fellow partner played by Maria Bello, are intrigued and challenged by the mousy up and coming star Olivia Thirby, all who will or have done anything to stay on top. Watching them battle to smash Billy Bob and his merit worthy case into the ground is worth its professional weight in gold. I'm not normally thrown off by plot changes but this series has me engaged at 100%. Cant wait to hear what you think.
