Fashion with a Purpose: Foster Care Awareness Month
This month my love for fashion intertwines with my passion for service. I stand today all dressed in blue to bring awareness to the 408,000 children in this country that live in foster care and need our help. Some need place to stay but many just need love and encouragement. If you have a minute, an hour or more you can help. Just grab a blue ribbon (and pair it with a great blue dress like this graphic print one I picked up at NY & Company) like me and wear it for the rest of he month to remind people that they too can make a difference. Did you know that you could donate just a few hours of your time to a local foster home and it would make such a difference. Sometimes they just need some extra hands to help bath and hold the young children. Just think if we all did something like that!
Golden Opportunity
I happen to be on the Morale and Engagement Team (MET) within my organization and we were holding an event for Asian American and Pacific Islander Awareness Month. When I discovered some great information about DHS General Counsel Ivan Fong. He is an amazing man and speaker so I was so honored when he accepted my invitation to speak at our event. He spoke clearly and profoundly about leadership. It was fantastic! The MET team decided that we would wear gold tops and black pants so I chose this golden ivory to lighten up the event. My quilted Harve Benard blazer and textured rayon top worked just great.
Spring Prints to the Rescue
Hello Suites!! It is so nice to see you again. I have climbed the staircase of success and can now post some of my spring pics. Here I am making business happen. Since the weather outside was bright and shiney I pulled out one of my printed dresses, you should too. Don't let this great weather pass you by. If you are worried about the cool air-condition, put on a light weight blazer and be on your way. Thank you all for being so patient. I will see you again soon, hopefully in your spring time attire!

Michelle Mondays: Plant for the Spring in Melon
Michelle Obama is so down to earth and I mean that literally. Check her out as she takes some time to get down and get her hands dirty with the Girl Scouts while planting vegetables. So if you have an outdoor adventure coming up, take a note from the first lady and brighten up you basic black work out wear with a sunny citrus top and colorful tennis shoes. I love her powder blue kicks!
Work Trend Translation: Cropped and Relaxed Trousers
Trend Translation:
Cropped and Relaxed Trousers
Here are some spring looks straight from the runway. Let this cropped and relaxed vibe inspire you in this season and beyond. Grab your favorite white blazer or shirt and try one of these looks from the Paul Smith SS 2012 runway show. If you don't have cropped trousers you can always roll a pair of you tapered leg pants up to create a similar look. This cozy comfortable style can be achieved with ease by pairing a pair of boyish trousers with a pair of flat shoes and a complementary skinny belt. Will this relaxed style fly at your job or is this style too relaxed for work?
Suite Life's Pinterest: Pastel Power Plays
Hey Suities!! I am sorry that I have been away for so long but I have been having some problems uploading my pictures using my new MAC Air that my husband bought me, which I love. However I am obviously not a seasoned MAC user yet so until I get the swing of things I will show you some pastel power plays from the SuiteLife Pinterest Page. If you haven't joined our page, you should totally check us out!
Work Wear Wednesday: Maximum Style and Hemlines
Wanting to know how to pull off the ongoing trend to lengthen your hemline this spring season? Just take a note from Lydia on Chic in the Cheap. She found this fantastic skirt for $25 at TJ Maxx. Talk about thrifty and trendy. I say she got a suite deal and she looks fantastic.
Michelle Mondays: Stunning with Vivid Color
First lady Michelle Obama stuns with her effortless beauty as President Obama officially kicked off his 2012 campaign for reelection on May 5th. Her choice of career smart flats was a professional one, but it was her structured purse and simple accessories that made this out outfit a winner. The color and movement in this dress both were stunning. The true success of this outfit was in the cut of the dress. It kept it her look casual enough to walk in the park or formal enough to look amazing at a rally in Richmond Virginia. You too can achieve this look by:
- Choosing a dress with movement in a solid and vivid color
- Opting for a longer hemline
- Accessorizing with a simple broach
- Selecting colorful and versatile flats
